What you will do

• Design, operate, and optimize global, multi-region database architectures across AWS and Azure, including relational, NoSQL, and document databases like Snowflake, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Cosmos DB, and MongoDB.
• Lead hands-on database migrations across cloud platforms, legacy systems, and global regions; implement indexing, query optimization, and scaling for large datasets and real-time workloads.
• Support and optimize data ingestion pipelines with AWS Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, ECS, Azure Data Factory; partner on streaming/CDC using Kafka, Kinesis, or AWS DMS.
• Implement security (IAM, encryption, access controls), backup/DR strategies (RTO/RPO, PITR), observability (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog), and participate in on-call for incident resolution.
• Partner with Engineering, Analytics, Product, DevOps, and Security teams; communicate concepts, influence standards, mentor through reviews and guidance.

Requirements

• 8+ years as Database Engineer, Data Engineer, Platform Engineer or similar
• Deep expertise with SQL and strong Python for automation; extensive AWS (DynamoDB, DocumentDB, RDS/PostgreSQL, EC2, ECS) and Azure (Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, Azure Monitor) experience
• Distributed systems knowledge (replication, partitioning, consistency, latency); global multi-region systems with data residency/compliance
• Query tuning, indexing, capacity planning, cost optimization; monitoring/alerting/observability for production databases
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; self-directed with focus on system health

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science/Data Science or equivalent
• Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep; CI/CD for database changes
• Multi-tenant SaaS support; data security/privacy/compliance
• Document management systems; AI/ML data patterns (vector DBs, RAG)
• Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer)
