Principal Systems Engineer (Product Owner) (NASA): Oversee development and maintenance of geospatial data transformation services for NASA's Earth Science data archive with an accent on team management, prioritization, and agile processes. Location: Remote, based out of Annapolis, MD with quarterly travel for PI Planning. U.S. Citizenship is required. National Agency Clearance with Inquires (NACI) screening.

What you will do

• Oversee daily activities of the Data Access Services team including triage, prioritization of user support, sustainment, and new development.
• Identify improvements for sustainability and scalability of geospatial services and coordinate operational solutions.
• Implement processes to enhance customer satisfaction, transparency, and accountability.
• Ensure timely completion of system maintenance activities.
• Promote product goals to user communities and prioritize requests into features via SAFe sprints and agile processes.
• Orchestrate feature development and operations across teams and release trains.

Requirements

• Energetic, self-motivated team player skilled in collaboration and consensus-building.
• 5+ years managing technical software development teams, moving features from idea to production.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication with technical users and business leaders.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with geospatial datasets (NetCDF, HDF, GeoTIFF) and open-source tools.
• Demonstrated knowledge of AWS services, Git, Docker, and agile tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geoscience or related field + 10+ years in software/systems engineering or team lead roles.
• U.S. Citizenship and NACI clearance.

Nice to have

• Domain knowledge in cloud-optimized geospatial formats/protocols, scientific data analysis, or remote sensing.
• AWS Developer/Cloud Practitioner or SAFe POPM/Scrum Master certification.
