Senior Data Engineer (Adtech)

Senior Data Engineer (Flink/Kafka): Building and scaling a high-performance Feature Store and real-time data pipelines for an AI-powered adtech platform with an accent on stream processing and ML integration. Focus on optimizing ETL bottlenecks, implementing data observability, and evolving the Data Lakehouse architecture.

Location: Hybrid in Hamburg, Germany. Must be open to relocate to Germany.

What you will do

• Scale the Feature Store using Apache Flink to translate Data Science requirements into high-performance real-time streams.
• Implement data validation, monitoring, and governance processes to ensure data integrity across all datasets.
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in complex ETL jobs to transform them into rapid-iteration cycles.
• Act as the primary technical link between Data Science and Backend engineering teams.
• Build custom ingestion logic for unstructured or non-typical data sources for experimental research.
• Maintain and evolve the Data Lake and implement a Data Lakehouse model using best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience with a modern data engineering stack.
• Proven experience with Apache Flink for stateful stream processing and real-time feature computation.
• Extensive experience with real-time streaming systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub.
• Strong proficiency in Java; knowledge of Golang or Python is a plus.
• Experience using dbt to build robust, multi-layered data architectures.
• Open to relocating to Hamburg, Germany.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Medallion Architecture and experience building Semantic Layers.
