TL;DR

Senior Animation Programmer (C++/Unreal): Developing and implementing next-generation character animation systems leveraging animation generation models with an accent on realistic character motion and tool development. Focus on prototyping procedural generation, physics-based systems, and optimizing animation code for multiple target platforms.

Location: Must be based in Vancouver, BC (Hybrid or Onsite)

Salary: $127,200 - $209,900 CAD annually

What you will do

  • Design, implement, and maintain advanced animation systems and tools to complement generative models.
  • Collaborate with ML researchers, engineers, animators, and designers to deliver high-quality animation features.
  • Optimize and debug animation code for performance, memory, and stability across various target platforms.
  • Prototype new animation techniques, including procedural generation and physics-based systems.
  • Mentor junior programmers and contribute to code reviews to maintain high technical standards.
  • Work with lead engineers to plan milestones and deliver high-quality work on schedule.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of game programming experience with a focus on character animation systems.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and experience with performance optimization.
  • Deep understanding of real-time 3D animation principles, kinematics (IK/FK), and rigging systems.
  • Strong mathematical foundation, particularly in linear algebra and vector math.
  • Experience with large-scale game engines, specifically Unreal Engine.
  • Must be based in Vancouver, BC.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Motion Matching, procedural animation, and physics simulation.
  • Familiarity with DCC tools such as Maya or Blender.
  • Prior experience shipping a AAA title.
  • Knowledge of parallel programming and GPU optimization (CUDA, compute shaders).
