Lead Programmer (GameDev)

TL;DR

Lead Programmer (Unreal Engine/C++): Developing world-class strategy and casual titles with an accent on full-stack game programming and team leadership. Focus on establishing technical vision, producing modular code, and mentoring programmers to ensure high-quality delivery.

Location: Must be currently located in BC, Canada (ideally within the greater Vancouver area)

Salary: $105,000 - $135,000 CAD

What you will do

• Collaborate with the Technical Director to establish a unified technology vision and review technical design documents.
• Produce high-quality, efficient, clean, and modular C++ code.
• Design, develop, and test computer-based systems, optimizing architecture and performance.
• Lead, coordinate, and manage a team of programmers, providing mentorship and training.
• Identify and tackle technical problems, from refactoring to bug fixing, proactively.
• Work with Production to manage project milestone goals and schedules.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience as a programmer in the game industry
• Shipped at least one game as a senior or lead programmer
• 3+ years’ experience using Unreal Engine 4 or 5
• Expert knowledge of C++, Standard Library, and Object Oriented Design.
• Strong understanding of 3D math, statistics, and probability.
• Experience mentoring other programmers

Nice to have

• Experience managing direct reports.
• Proficiency in C#, Java, Lua, or HLSL/Cg shaders.
• Experience with Mobile platforms (iOS, Android).
• Knowledge of Test Driven Development (TDD), Visual Studio, and Perforce.
• Experience with C# server environments, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
