TL;DR

UE5 Gameplay Developer (Multiplayer FPS): Designing and implementing server-authoritative netcode and weapon systems for a competitive 4v4 extraction shooter with an accent on client prediction, lag compensation, and high-performance replication. Focus on building robust ballistics, hit registration, and optimizing 60+ FPS stability in dense combat.

Location: Hybrid - Montreal (1–3 days/week). Must be based in or be able to relocate to Montreal, Canada

hirify.global is a specialized game development studio creating Shrapnel, a player-owned competitive extraction shooter, with a team comprising award-winning developers from AAA franchises.

What you will do

  • Architect server-authoritative netcode featuring client prediction and lag compensation for competitive play.
  • Build honest and precise weapon systems including ballistics, penetration, and hit registration.
  • Ensure stability of 60+ FPS during intense combat scenarios.
  • Establish multiplayer engineering standards for replication patterns and prediction discipline.
  • Own the replication logic for inventory, loot, and backend service integrations as the project scales.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of production experience with UE multiplayer in C++.
  • Proven track record of shipping a commercial multiplayer title to paying players.
  • Deep technical knowledge of replication graphs, RPCs, lag compensation, and prediction error handling.
  • Experience building combat weapon systems within a netcode-sensitive context.
  • Must be based in or seriously open to relocating to Montreal, Canada.

Nice to have

  • Experience shipping extraction shooters or Battle Royale titles.
  • Advanced proficiency with the Gameplay Ability System (GAS).
  • Experience scaling multiplayer systems past 1000 CCU.
  • Work on anti-cheat or competitive integrity systems.
