Engineering Group Manager - Exterior Lighting (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid (Warren, Michigan). Must report to the office at least 3 times a week

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of exterior lighting Design Release Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
• Oversee end-to-end development of exterior lighting components from concept through production launch.
• Partner with Design Studio, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality teams to ensure seamless vehicle integration.
• Ensure all components meet strict regulatory, safety, and durability requirements through robust validation and FMEA processes.
• Drive innovation in the use of lightweight materials and sustainable manufacturing techniques.
• Manage engineering budgets, staffing, performance reviews, and strategic long-range planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, or Physics.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in automotive exterior systems engineering.
• Proven ability to lead global vehicle programs and manage supplier relationships.
• Proficiency with CAD tools, CAE analysis, and regulatory standards.
• Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.
• Hybrid work: must be based in or able to report to Warren, Michigan.
