TL;DR

Controls Engineer II (Material Handling): Develop control system designs, deploy and commission PLC code, and create graphical user interfaces for material handling systems with an accent on PLC programming, network architecture, and electrical device integration. Focus on testing code functionality, on-site troubleshooting during commissioning, and collaborating with electrical engineering on system designs.

Location: Hybrid (3 days in-office) for candidates based in Dallas–Fort Worth, TX preferred; remote for other US locations. Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; no visa sponsorship.

What you will do

  • Develop control system designs, PLC code, and graphical user interfaces for material handling systems
  • Test and emulate code functionality prior to on-site deployment
  • Troubleshoot PLC code and electrical equipment on-site during commissioning
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering on control network architecture
  • Define electrical device requirements and support estimates for development and commissioning
  • Review customer standards to determine system requirements and develop recommendations for productivity and cost improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years experience in material handling or similar industry (or master’s + 3 years)
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC (GuardLogix) and Siemens TIA Portal PLC programming
  • Experience with Ethernet/IP network architecture, interpreting electrical schematics, and HMI programming
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel up to 60% including multiple 10/4 rotations
