What you will do
- Execute the System Safety program to identify and control safety hazards for the F-22 platform to an acceptable risk level.
- Perform analyses for hazard identification, evaluation, control, and coordination in support of software safety activities.
- Support software development, test, and release cycles as the designated safety subject matter expert.
- Conduct functional hazard, fault tree, preliminary hazard, and software hazard analyses using quantitative and qualitative techniques.
- Lead contractual efforts and mentor the safety team to ensure high technical quality and adherence to deadlines.
- Coordinate system safety activities across design teams, suppliers, internal management, and external customers.
Requirements
- US Citizenship and Active Secret Security Clearance are mandatory.
- 8+ years of experience in safety-critical software architectural design, coding, or testing (e.g., Flight Controls, Engine Control, Displays).
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Aerospace, Systems, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering).
- Full life-cycle experience with system safety analyses, industry standards, and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and resolve highly complex issues while interacting with senior leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-functional coordination.
Nice to have
- Experience implementing MIL-STD-882, DO-178, IEEE 1228, ISO 26262, ARP-4761, or ARP-4754.
- Knowledge of FAA and military regulations and processes.
- Experience with Model-based system engineering (MBSE).
- Military or civilian flight experience.
- Previous experience writing technical reports on complex subject matter and government contract execution.
