Salary: CA$120,300 – CA$178,900

What you will do

• Develop and evolve the foundational platform supporting core software systems and energy modeling.
• Build scalable backend services for complex energy usage and utility rate calculations.
• Increase engineering velocity by creating internal tools, infrastructure, and automation.
• Ensure the health and performance of critical services through monitoring and on-call rotation.
• Contribute to new platform capabilities and greenfield infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience building backend services or platform infrastructure.
• Must be based in Canada.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages and strong computer science fundamentals.
• Comfort using AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or OpenAI Codex.
• Knowledge of system design principles and a desire to deepen architecture skills.
• English: Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and DevOps (CI/CD, containerization).
• Track record of delivering reliable, high-performance APIs.
• Familiarity with data modeling, simulations, or complex calculation systems.
• Background in energy, utilities, or finance-related domains.
