What you will do
- Lead sustaining design efforts for opto-mechanical modules, precision mechanisms, mechanical packaging, and mechatronic systems.
- Manage the full design lifecycle, including requirements definition, feasibility analysis, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing handoff.
- Drive obsolescence management strategies to maintain the performance and reliability of legacy systems in high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
- Perform advanced mechanical analysis, including FEA modeling, thermal and CFD analysis, and tolerance stack-up.
- Collaborate with vendors on component fabrication, qualification, and process transfer.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to cross-functional technical reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (8+ years experience) or Master's degree (5+ years experience).
- Proven experience in mechanical design for complex systems involving precision mechanisms, vacuum systems, and vibration isolation.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, preferably using ProE/Creo.
- Strong expertise in FEA, thermal analysis, and GD&T.
- Must be located in or be able to work from Milpitas, CA.
