What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve the public API product providing access to hirify.global’s AI capabilities.
• Ship features for both self-serve developers and large enterprise customers to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Own the API surface end-to-end, managing design decisions, naming, versioning, and structure.
• Iterate quickly using data and user feedback, shipping updates multiple times per week.
• Abstract complex image models into simple, elegant developer-facing interfaces.
• Collaborate with product, machine learning, backend, and sales teams.

Requirements

• Strong experience building backend systems in Python specifically for external consumers.
• Proficiency with FastAPI, async patterns, concurrency, and production debugging.
• Proven experience designing and owning public-facing APIs (versioning, consistency, evolution).
• Pragmatic and product-minded approach, prioritizing impact and speed over over-engineering.
• Experience working in high-performing, fast-paced, or startup environments.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with API deployment patterns (Docker, uvicorn/gunicorn, health checks).
• Knowledge of image processing libraries such as Pillow or pyvips.
• Experience integrating AI/image models behind APIs, managing latency and inference.
• Experience with Node.js.
• Background in building developer-facing tooling or integrations.
