TL;DR

Employment & Expat Tax Manager: Managing global mobility tax compliance and UK employment taxes for an internationally mobile workforce with an accent on cross-border obligations, expat payroll, and regulatory reporting. Focus on ensuring compliance across jurisdictions, optimizing tax efficiencies, and advising on complex matters like LTIPs, bonuses, and remote working implications.

Location: London, 50% hybrid working model (averaging two to three days onsite)

What you will do

  • Partner with Global Mobility to manage tax and social security obligations across jurisdictions, oversee expat payroll vendors, and support compliance for home/host countries including LTIPs, bonuses, and pensions.
  • Provide guidance on business travel risks, tax protection policies, and accounting for expat complexities.
  • Ensure UK employment tax compliance (PSA, P11Ds, IR35), act as HMRC contact, and advise on benefits, remote working, and M&A due diligence.
  • Identify tax efficiencies, deliver training, support overseas teams, and line manage a Tax Analyst.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in expat (global mobility) tax compliance, including tax equalisation and hypothetical tax calculations
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment tax compliance requirements
  • Experience managing cross-border tax obligations from home and host perspectives
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and general ledger processes
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication skills, ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver under pressure
  • Proactive, practical, solutions-focused approach

Nice to have

  • Understanding of international employment tax frameworks
  • Professional tax qualification (e.g. CTA, ATT or equivalent)
