Director of Engineering (AI)

TL;DR

Director of Engineering (AI/Golang): Leading the development of production-grade AI products and B2B applications with an accent on system design, LLM integration, and engineering execution. Focus on shipping AI into production, architecting scalable backend services with Kubernetes and Golang, and mentoring a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Location: Hybrid. Must be able to meet in Hicksville, Long Island twice a week

What you will do

• Act as a hands-on technical leader, spending 60% of your time coding, reviewing code, and designing systems.
• Design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI-enabled products, including LLM-based systems (LLaMA, Qwen, Mistral) and predictive models.
• Develop high-performance backend services using Golang and manage infrastructure with Kubernetes.
• Build and review full-stack product features utilizing React and NestJS.
• Lead and mentor a small-to-mid-sized engineering team, establishing technical standards and best practices.
• Align technical priorities with product and business goals to drive revenue and customer impact in a B2B environment.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of technology experience, including leadership roles managing ML/MLOps and software engineering teams.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Deep expertise in Enterprise Software architecture and MLOps practices across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in startup or high-growth environments.
• Strong proficiency in Golang, Kubernetes, React, and NestJS.
• Must be based in or able to commute to Hicksville, Long Island for a hybrid schedule (2 days/week).

• Experience with ML metrics observability and workflow orchestration.
• Experience with service release automation and notebook development.
• Experience with LLM deployment.
