What you will do

• Set the engineering roadmap for ASP Engineering, collaborating with Robotics, Software, Science, and Product teams.
• Define and drive a unified platform architecture across hardware, automation, and systems engineering to enable repeatable deployment.
• Implement efficient processes for lifecycle, design controls, safety, and compliance for autonomous laboratories.
• Develop a repeatable deployment model for standing up global AI Science Factory sites with predictable performance.
• Create a culture of mentorship that supports roadmap execution and fosters career development for engineers.
• Partner with external integrators, OEMs, and contractors to expand engineering capacity.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience building lab automation systems.
• 10+ years of experience leading managers and multi-disciplinary teams at scale.
• Proven track record scaling automated labs, including instrument/robot integration and reliability engineering.
• Demonstrated experience integrating AI/ML into engineering, operations, or research environments.
• Technical expertise across lab automation, controls/SCADA, and science instrumentation.
• Must be based in or able to work from Cambridge, MA, USA

Nice to have

• Multi-domain engineering excellence in mechanical, controls, electrical, and systems engineering.
• Experience defining interface standards across hardware, robotics, and software systems.
• Fluency in materials science, chemistry, and life science domains.
• 10+ years experience integrating LIMS, orchestration, schedulers, and observability pipelines.
