Principal Data Architect (AI)

TL;DR

Principal Data Architect (AI): Defining and driving the technical vision for CloudBlue’s data and insights platform with an accent on scalable data models and AI-enabled solutions. Focus on architecting machine learning systems for real-time data processing, building high-performance feature engineering pipelines, and implementing MLOps practices.

Location: Remote (Global), with a primary focus on candidates based in the EU. Position will be performed outside of Ontario.

What you will do

• Architect and design ML systems capable of processing millions of real-time data points using feature stores and inference pipelines.
• Lead architectural decision-making for data and ML systems through RFC processes to ensure scalability and statistical rigor.
• Build high-performance feature engineering pipelines and scalable data architectures.
• Collaborate with DevOps to optimize ML infrastructure, including Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and GPU clusters.
• Mentor Senior Data Scientists and ML Engineers in MLOps, systems thinking, and statistical practices.

Requirements

• Degree in STEM (Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of combined experience across Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and Data Science.
• Expertise in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery).
• Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and data science libraries (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
• Experience orchestrating data pipelines using Airflow, dbt, Spark, or Kafka.
• Proven track record of deploying machine learning models to production using MLOps principles.

Nice to have

• Experience developing billing and rating systems for AI-driven or consumption-based models.
• Hands-on experience building RAG pipelines or API-based AI workflows.
