Lead Software Engineer (Kubernetes)

TL;DR

Lead Software Engineer (Kubernetes): Design and implement backend systems that abstract infrastructure concerns and enable self-service capabilities with an accent on integration inside of Kubernetes. Focus on developing scalable APIs, automation frameworks, and architectures for EKS Hybrid Clusters spanning AWS and OnPrem datacenters.

Location: East Coast, US (Remote)

Salary: $140,000 - $175,000 USD

What you will do

• Design and implement backend systems, internal tools, APIs, and automation frameworks for Kubernetes integration and self-service.
• Contribute to solutions architecture, create design documents, system diagrams, and proof-of-concepts using Kubernetes and IaC tools.
• Build CLI tools, services, and reusable components primarily in Go, Rust, or Python, with Terraform integration.
• Apply software engineering best practices including testing, observability, security controls, and Agile (SAFe) delivery in Jira.
• Participate in on-call rotation, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers via code reviews.
• Partner on platform modernization initiatives and share knowledge across a global team spanning 5 timezones.

Requirements

• Must be located on East Coast, US for remote work.
• Strong experience as backend or platform software engineer with Kubernetes admin/power user exposure.
• Proficiency in at least one of Go, Rust, or Python; experience building APIs, automation tools, or platform services.
• Working knowledge of GitLab CI/CD, Terraform/Pulumi/Ansible, observability (Prometheus, Grafana), Linux, and TCP/IP networking.
• Experience in Agile environments and remote collaboration; understanding of infrastructure with software engineering approach (not operations/SRE).

Nice to have

• Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
