Software Engineer (Embedded)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (Embedded): Designing and implementing low-latency runtime software for the Autonomy Interface SW (AIS) team with an accent on robust sensing integration and interface contracts. Focus on building foundational software for autonomous vehicles and ensuring system reliability under complex engineering challenges.

Location: Sunnyvale, California. Hybrid: must report to office at least 3 times a week.

Salary: $142,000–$215,000

What you will do

• Develop C++ software to interface the autonomy stack with sensors and custom vehicle hardware.
• Design and implement complex, highly scalable, low-latency software on Linux-based systems.
• Improve software reliability through requirements generation, CI, automated testing, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor other developers.
• Deliver complex projects through incremental development cycles.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience writing production-quality software.
• Proficiency in C++11 or later.
• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Sunnyvale, California.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with embedded Linux/POSIX systems and build systems like Buildroot or Yocto.
• Background in safety-critical development (Automotive, FDA, FAA).
• Experience with ROS or other robotics middleware platforms.
• Knowledge of QNX, VxWorks, C, Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience working with Cameras, Radars, or Lidars.
