Location: Hybrid - report to primary GM office (Austin, TX; Warren, MI; or Sunnyvale/Mountain View, CA) three times per week

Salary: $185,600 - $285,000

What you will do

• Architect and evolve distributed systems focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Lead development of backend APIs and services for customer-facing digital platforms
• Write clean, secure, well-tested code and mentor others through code reviews
• Build and optimize integrations using REST, GraphQL, Kafka, and messaging queues
• Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance system capabilities and efficiency
• Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, and business teams to align tech with goals
• Champion CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and performance

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, Engineering, or equivalent
• 8+ years building enterprise-grade backend platforms
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, scalable microservices
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, Apache Kafka
• Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes/AKS, Microsoft Azure
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, cloud-native storage
• Track record mentoring engineers and leading at scale

Nice to have

• Experience with CGI, 2D/3D imagery, layering, render-on-the-fly for visual assets
