Data Protection Officer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Data Protection Officer (Fintech): Overseeing compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 for the HL Group with an accent on strategic privacy advice and risk-based assurance. What you will do

• Act as the primary expert adviser on UK GDPR and privacy obligations across the Group.
• Monitor and challenge compliance with data protection laws, policies, and governance standards.
• Oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and ensure robust governance for high-risk processing.
• Serve as the primary contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and individuals exercising data rights.
• Develop and maintain the privacy governance framework, providing risk-based reporting to senior leadership and the board.
• Support privacy by design across technology initiatives, supplier arrangements, and transformation programmes.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of GDPR, PECR, the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and international privacy frameworks.
• Proven experience advising on data protection compliance within complex organizations.
• Track record of developing privacy policies, DPIAs, RoPAs, and incident-response processes.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical operational compliance.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to provide pragmatic advice and constructive challenge.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
