Lead Programmer (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Lead Programmer (Gamedev): Develop and maintain comprehensive strategy for Rockstar’s Creator Platform technologies including FiveM and RedM with an accent on low-level software systems and architecture. Focus on overseeing engineering teams, mentoring developers, implementing SDLC, and integrating platform technology into hirify.global’ products.

Location: In-office position based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

What you will do

• Develop and continuously improve strategy for Creator Platform technologies like FiveM, RedM, and associated tooling.
• Oversee engineering teams, align on technical decisions with leads, and achieve development milestones.
• Mentor engineering leads and developers, support recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding.
• Implement and maintain SDLC aligned with company objectives.
• Leverage internal codebase knowledge for integration strategies into hirify.global’ products.
• Collaborate with Game, Security, and Online Services teams to meet standards and guidelines.

Requirements

• At least 5 years hands-on experience designing and developing low-level software systems and architecture.
• At least 3 years leading engineering teams of 10+, including mentoring, performance management, and career development.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, PERL, Ruby).
• At least one shipped console or PC title, preferably Xbox/PlayStation.
• Experience crafting and accomplishing roadmaps with measurable outcomes.
• Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration with excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Interest in modding or User Generated Content communities.
• Experience with Javascript and/or Lua.
• Experience with reverse engineering.
