Senior Analytics Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Analytics Engineer (dbt/Databricks): Taking technical ownership of large data initiatives and building scalable data transformations with an accent on data modeling, standards, and architectural direction. Focus on designing robust schemas, ensuring observability and lineage, and coaching engineers on best practices.

Location: London, England, United Kingdom. Hybrid: Minimum 2 days per week in-office (Levels 1-5), 3 days for Level 6+

What you will do

• Take technical ownership of large data initiatives, leading end-to-end delivery across components and stakeholders
• Set and uphold best practices for analytics engineering, including data modeling, dbt patterns, testing, and documentation
• Lead data model design and architectural discussions, shaping schemas with end-user utility
• Advise on SQL, dbt, Databricks, and AI transformations at scale, contributing to tooling direction
• Provide system-level perspective on lineage, workflows, and observability for data flows
• Coach and mentor engineers via code reviews, discussions, and knowledge sharing
• Collaborate with Platform and Data Science teams on data products and upstream issues

Requirements

• Expert in SQL and dbt for robust, scalable data transformations on Databricks
• Strong experience with data modeling (e.g., Kimball) and leading architectural discussions
• Ability to set and communicate engineering standards
• Experience diagnosing production issues and designing pipelines with testing and monitoring
• System-level view of data lineage and dependencies
• Strong mentoring, documentation, and communication skills
• Experience with orchestration tooling like Databricks Workflows

Nice to have

• Familiarity with data activation tools (e.g., Hightouch) or streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka)
