Software Architect, Connectivity (Automotive Connectivity)

Location: Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, Germany; hybrid remote and onsite work at a major software development site, with willingness to travel 20% of the time.

What you will do

• Define and develop end-to-end software architectures for customer-specific telematic units and related connectivity products.
• Translate technical and organizational requirements into architectural constraints, interfaces, design strategies, and reusable software components.
• Analyze customer requirements from the RFI/RFQ phase and ensure traceability and consistency with system architecture and software requirements.
• Coordinate with requirements engineering, system architects, functional owners, product engineering, and customers as the primary technical interface.
• Support cybersecurity activities, including TARA representation, risk treatment decisions, security requirement derivation, and cybersecurity concept maintenance.
• Ensure process adherence, including Automotive SPICE, and support high-quality software delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
• Expert knowledge and extensive experience in software architecture, embedded software, product development, and connectivity technologies.
• Hands-on experience with C++, embedded Linux, and Linux kernel and user space.
• Experience with UML or SysML, modeling tools and languages, requirements analysis, and Automotive SPICE, especially SWE.2.
• Proven technical leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and concise technical documentation skills.
• Clear written and verbal English communication is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with infotainment systems and AUTOSAR, especially AUTOSAR AP.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety and ISO 21434 automotive cybersecurity.
• Experience with TARA methodologies, automotive cryptography, and secure coding standards.
• Knowledge of Automotive SPICE SWE.1 and SWE.2 process models.
