Principal Engineer - System SW Architecture (Automotive Audio)

Location: Hybrid role based in Nagoya, Aichi, or Tokyo, Japan

What you will do

• Define system software architecture for embedded and SoC-based car audio systems from initial concept through product launch.
• Lead and coordinate software architecture across MCU, DSP, AVB, and related technologies, optimizing feasibility, performance, and cost.
• Select key components for next-generation digital processing platforms and create detailed system block diagrams.
• Work with system, cybersecurity, and functional safety architects to develop and review designs.
• Analyze internal and customer requirements during RFQ and development phases, ensuring compliance with system design requirements.
• Present technical solutions to automotive OEMs and guide customer teams on audio system integration with vehicle architectures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with strong software, hardware, and embedded systems knowledge.
• 10+ years of experience in OEM automotive product design, preferably involving audio systems.
• Experience with CAN, Ethernet, A2B, I2C, SPI, TDM, and UART communication buses.
• Hardware and software development, debugging, validation, requirements management, and system design experience.
• Strong understanding of automotive product development processes and the ability to communicate architecture concepts clearly to business and technical stakeholders.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills; willingness to travel 10% and visit customer locations when requested.

Nice to have

• DSP software, audio frameworks, AUTOSAR, RTOS, C/C++, and model-based development experience.
• Experience with Enterprise Architect, DOORS Next Generation, Automotive SPICE, cybersecurity, and functional safety.
• Experience working with automotive OEM customers and familiarity with TS16949, PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, and DFMEA.
