TL;DR

Senior PostgreSQL Consultant (PostgreSQL/MS SQL): Designing and advising on a large-scale database migration from MS SQL to PostgreSQL on a cloud-native platform with an accent on migration strategy and architecture. Focus on T-SQL to PL/pgSQL conversion, Kubernetes integration via CloudNativePG, and ensuring low-downtime cutover strategies.

What you will do

  • Act as a technical advisor for MS SQL to PostgreSQL migration strategy for a public sector client.
  • Assess T-SQL codebase and define migration architecture and tooling.
  • Design PostgreSQL setups using CloudNativePG on Kubernetes (including HA, backup, and monitoring).
  • Provide expert guidance on T-SQL to PL/pgSQL conversion and application adaptations.
  • Review proof of concepts, test strategies, and low-downtime cutover plans.
  • Support the client team throughout implementation and final cutover.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL in production environments.
  • Proven track record of MS SQL to PostgreSQL migrations.
  • Solid understanding of database architecture, performance, and optimization.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native database operations (preferably CloudNativePG).
  • Familiarity with complex database estates including stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
  • Ability to work onsite in Copenhagen.
