Are you a GKE expert who’s tired of traditional hierarchy and wants to build a secure-by-design platform without losing your technical edge?

We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to join Custobar, a market-leading company. This role is the grounding force for our experts, bridging the gap between high-level security requirements and practical developer execution while protecting the speed and "doer" culture of our team.




WHAT YOU GET TO WORK ON WITH US
As our Engineering Manager, you will be a vital link in our core product development team, ensuring Custobar remains scalable, secure, and compliant.Your daily responsibilities will include:

* Leading Infrastructure: Taking responsibility for cloud configuration and the uptime/reliability of our GKE environment.


* Bridge & Shield: Translating certificate requirements into technical tickets and protecting the internal team from distraction, maintaining high deployment frequency


* Hands-on Execution: Reviewing PRs, debugging complex cluster issues, and writing automation scripts.


* Vendor Management: Guiding and auditing outsourced DevOps and DevSec work to ensure it aligns with internal needs.


* People Growth: Facilitating regular 1-on-1s and cultivating a culture of continuous learning.


* Maximizing ROI: Prioritizing technical initiatives to ensure every decision drives maximum value.






YOUR PROFILE
We are looking for a servant-leader who finds joy in making others successful. You are resilient and calm under the pressure and prefer a working script over a 20-page slide deck.

Key requirements to succeed:

* Experience: Minimum 5 years of managerial experience with a background in software development (Python, Typescript).


* Cloud Expertise: Deep understanding of Google Cloud, GKE and Google Workspace.


* Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in Terraform and automating "Compliance as Code."


* Security & Compliance: Experience with ISO 27001 frameworks and cloud security posture management.


* Languages: Fluency in Finnish and English.



Bonus points for:

* Understanding of FinOps and cost optimization.


* Experience with EU hosting requirements.


* Active participation in Finnish DevOps or Security communities.

You will work closely with our CEO, CTO, internal developers, and outsourced security partners. People at Custobar are friendly and laid-back; we are a flat organization where if something doesn’t work, it gets changed.

Our office is in Espoo, but we offer a flexible combination of remote and on-site work. This role might also involve occasional travel within Germany and the rest of Europe.
