TL;DR
Deputy Editor, Risk and Regulation (Finance): Delivering agenda-setting coverage of global banking regulation and risk management with an accent on cultivating senior regulatory sources and producing exclusive reporting. Location: London, 50% hybrid working model (averaging two to three days onsite)

What you will do
- Monitor global banking regulators to identify emerging themes in risk management and regulatory strategy.
- Build and maintain a network of senior sources across central banks, government bodies, and the financial sector.
- Pitch and deliver 3–4 original stories per week, including exclusives, interviews, and high-level analysis.
- Collaborate with the Risk and Regulation Editor to align coverage across The Banker and Tracker products.
- Contribute to multimedia output including podcasts and videos, and represent the publication at industry events.
- Deputize for the Risk and Regulation Editor and support wider editorial priorities when required.
Requirements
- Strong track record in financial or regulatory journalism, specifically covering banking, risk, or policy.
- Deep understanding of global banking regulation and supervisory frameworks.
- Proven ability to break exclusive stories and deliver agenda-setting journalism.
- Established network of high-level sources within regulatory and financial institutions.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a clear, authoritative voice.
- Experience working collaboratively within a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Nice to have
- Experience working with data-driven products or regulatory trackers.
- Familiarity with multimedia storytelling formats such as podcasts and video.
- Experience contributing to newsletters or subscription editorial products.
- Interest in emerging risk themes like climate risk, digital assets, or financial stability.
