TL;DR

Principal Rates & Regulatory Affairs Lead Analyst (Utilities): Lead development of regulatory strategies, tariff designs, and high-impact filings for global energy operations with an accent on quantitative financial analysis, policy risk assessment, and revenue recovery mechanisms. Focus on designing tariffs, authoring testimony and workpapers, coordinating cross-functional inputs, and providing executive guidance on state and federal regulations.

What you will do

  • Provide proactive regulatory strategy guidance to leadership, framing options, tradeoffs, and recommendations based on quantitative analysis.
  • Lead end-to-end regulatory initiatives like rate cases and tariff changes, from issue identification to executive deliverables.
  • Design, maintain, and modify tariffs to meet revenue requirements and business objectives.
  • Author key case materials including testimony, workpapers, and analyses; coordinate with finance, legal, operations, and other teams.
  • Support filings and appearances before commissions; lead responses to discovery and audits.
  • Monitor legislation and rules, produce risk assessments, and develop analytical tools for ratemaking and regulatory support.

Requirements

  • 15+ years regulatory/utility experience in rate design, cost recovery, tariffs, filings, and testifying.
  • Demonstrated autonomy, results-orientation, and ability to lead complex projects under deadlines.
  • Advanced analytical skills in accounting, finance, and regulatory economics with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication to influence stakeholders and present to leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (especially Excel) and enterprise tools; experience coordinating cross-functional inputs.
  • Four-year degree in Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics (Master’s or MBA preferred).
