Relay Engineer (Electrical Engineering)

What you will do

• Design protective relaying systems, relay protection zones, and control systems for substations.
• Perform relay setting calculations, coordination studies, and short circuit studies.
• Maintain protection engineering databases and short circuit models.
• Support the NERC compliance program and evaluate relay performance after system events.
• Collaborate with field technicians to commission new relay equipment and resolve P&C system issues.
• Provide emergency response support for customer outages and storm service restoration.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Must be located in or willing to relocate to Dayton, Ohio.
• Open to all levels of relevant work experience, including 2026 graduates.

Nice to have

• Experience in power engineering.
• Familiarity with transmission and distribution utility operations.
• Knowledge of digital logic and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Willingness to pursue a Professional Engineering License (FE exam).
