TL;DR

Systems Engineer II (Naval Technology): Leading systems engineering projects for Radar systems with an accent on signal processing and system-level trade-space assessments. Focus on guiding the development lifecycle from initial design through integration and test events for complex hardware and software systems.

Location: Chantilly, VA or Wake Forest, NC, United States. Must meet U.S. nationality requirements and be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

What you will do

  • Lead small-to-medium systems engineering projects and technical work packages within cost and quality requirements.
  • Guide Radar system development from initial design through finalization, integration, and test events.
  • Perform system-level trade-space assessments to determine benefit trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with RF, Mechanical, Electrical, and Software engineers.
  • Document and specify system and subsystem level requirements.
  • Provide technical input and cost estimation support for future proposals and IR&D activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3+ years of related experience.
  • U.S. nationality and eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
  • Significant experience with Radar or similar signal processing systems.
  • Knowledge of algorithms for navigation, periscope detection, and discrimination.
  • Proficiency in Linux-based system integration, testing, and execution in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience planning and executing integration and test events for combined hardware and software systems.

Nice to have

  • Experience with automated testing of software baselines.
  • Knowledge of common Navy platforms and their interfaces.
  • Understanding of X-band system trade-offs.
  • Experience working with MIL-STDs for test requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-454, MIL-STD-901).
  • Proficiency in Matlab, Mathcad, or other modeling languages.
