What you will do

• Own end-to-end technical direction for Session Replay, spanning frontend, backend, and data systems.
• Drive the evolution of backend architecture, focusing on columnar/analytical data storage for large-scale session data.
• Define data models, ingestion pipelines, and query patterns for high-volume data.
• Lead the design of investigation workflows, integrating replay with logs, metrics, and traces across Grafana Cloud.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to build cohesive cross-product experiences.
• Mentor engineers and improve overall engineering standards and operational practices.

Requirements

• Must be located in the US or Canada within EST or CT timezones.
• Strong ability to reason about data-intensive systems (ingestion, storage, querying, cost trade-offs).
• Experience owning features in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English for communicating design decisions.
• Experience with Go, TypeScript, and React.
• Understanding of user-centered software development processes.

Nice to have

• Experience with columnar/analytical databases.
• Experience with observability tools (Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, Sentry, etc.).
• Experience building debugging or developer-focused tools.
• Familiarity with privacy, security, and access control in data-heavy systems.
• Experience with performance-sensitive systems and large datasets.
