TL;DR
Senior Backend Engineer (Go): Building and optimizing the Mimir OSS project and Grafana Cloud Metrics across major cloud providers with an accent on high-performance distributed systems and scalability. What you will do
- Influence the roadmap and deliver new features for a large-scale database to solve customer problems.
- Design, build, and operate critical systems, owning their reliability, performance, and availability.
- Contribute to the Mimir OSS project and other open-source initiatives within the ecosystem.
- Drive projects from initial conceptualization to production operations.
- Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations to ensure service stability.
- Collaborate on design documents and perform rigorous code reviews.
Requirements
- Solid experience with Go (familiarity with Python, C, C++, or Rust is also applicable).
- Experience delivering cloud software or systems engineering projects in a self-driven manner.
- Proven track record of writing clean, robust, and performant software.
- Familiarity with observability systems (metrics, logs, traces) for debugging.
- Experience with the DevOps model and participating in on-call rotations.
- Must be based in Spain, Germany, the UK, or Sweden.
Nice to have
- Experience working with Kubernetes.
- Experience with queue systems, such as the Kafka protocol.
- Previous operational use of Grafana and Prometheus.
- Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.
