What you will do

• Design and implement horizontal solutions to address behavioral driving issues across new geographic regions.
• Build quantitative evaluation techniques to drive data-driven development processes.
• Collaborate closely with partners in Mapping, Product, and the Onboard stack.
• Scale the performance of the Waymo Driver while improving and maintaining safety standards.

Requirements

• PhD, Masters, or Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field.
• Experience manipulating and analyzing large datasets.
• Proven ability to solve complex design problems that span multiple system components.
• Expertise in high-quality API design with a focus on evaluation and data-driven techniques.
• Must be based in the US (Mountain View or San Francisco, CA).

Nice to have

• Experience in the autonomous driving domain, specifically in motion planning or perception.
• Proficiency in C++ and SQL.
• Experience contributing to scalable evaluation workflows and building metrics for ML models.
