TL;DR
Automation Engineer: Develop, build, and support automation solutions for R&D and production of rocket motor and pyrotechnic components with an accent on integrating PLCs, cobots, servo motors, sensors, and control systems. Location: Willingness to travel to different sites in Switzerland (max. 20%)

What you will do
- Develop, build, and support automation solutions from R&D to in-house production of rocket motor and pyrotechnic components
- Design and develop machines and automated setups from concept to full integration of components like servo motors, cobots, PLCs, and sensors
- Build and test prototypes, iterate based on results, and drive solutions to production readiness
- Program and integrate collaborative robots (cobots)
- Collaborate with propulsion engineers, production teams, and safety specialists to meet performance, quality, and safety requirements
- Maintain documentation and contribute to continuous improvement through automation and digitalization
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- 3–5 years in automation engineering, ideally in manufacturing or R&D
- Experience with electrical work, control cabinets, wiring diagrams, and safety
- Hands-on designing and building machines from concept to commissioning
- Proficiency in PLC programming (structured text, Codesys) and industrial control systems
- Proficiency integrating servo drives, pneumatics, sensors, and control systems
- Experience with cobot programming (Universal Robots, Polyscope 5 or similar)
- Working knowledge of machine safety standards (CE directive, SUVA, ATEX, pyrotechnics)
- Willingness to travel to Switzerland sites (max. 20%)
Nice to have
- Experience with industrial robot arms (KUKA, Fanuc, ABB)
- Understanding of mechanical design; CAD tools (Siemens NX or similar)
