Salary: $105,600 - $158,400 (based on experience)

What you will do
- Lead proactive earned media strategy, placing stories in national/regional outlets and cultivating journalist relationships across civil rights, immigration, and justice beats.
- Manage inbound press inquiries, rapid responses, media events, and content production including press releases, op-eds, and advisories.
- Support local government partners and executives with PR strategies, media training, talking points, and thought leadership opportunities.
- Conduct media monitoring with Meltwater, analyze trends, produce reports, and update media strategies and lists.
- Supervise Media Relations Coordinator, providing guidance, feedback, and development.
Requirements
- 7-10 years in communications, media relations, or public affairs, ideally in legal/civil rights/policy; track record of national/regional placements.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent; 3+ years supervising staff.
- Proficiency in Meltwater or similar; strong writing/editing under deadlines; media instincts and relationship-building.
- Experience with executive communications, spokesperson prep, and translating complex issues for audiences.
- Commitment to civil rights mission, DEI values; proficient in Asana, Salesforce, G-Suite, Slack, Zoom.
