Software Engineer - HIL Battery & Propulsion Simulation and Integration (Embedded): Developing and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments for embedded controllers in battery and propulsion systems with an accent on real-time simulation and hardware integration. Focus on designing simulation models using dSpace and Simscape, optimizing HIL bench layouts, and applying DFSS methodologies to improve system reliability.
Location: Hybrid (Milford, Michigan). Must be based in the US; no immigration sponsorship provided.

What you will do
- Create and maintain real-time simulation models (Plant, sensors, actuators) using dSpace Simulink and Simscape.
- Design HIL benches, including harness design, power requirements, and ECU integration.
- Collaborate with software development and calibration stakeholders to identify and implement technical solutions.
- Root cause issues and resolve unexpected test results encountered during HIL execution.
- Plan and coordinate the rollout of test environment strategies and hardware assets to support requested features.
- Apply Agile and Lean Manufacturing principles to optimize development processes and increase quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in real-time simulation model design.
- 3+ years of experience in HIL design, troubleshooting, and integration.
- 2+ years of experience in automotive engineering.
- 1+ years of experience applying DFSS tools and methodologies.
- Must not require immigration sponsorship (H-1B, TN, STEM OPT, etc.) now or in the future.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for developing real-time control algorithms.
- Experience with ETAS INCA, Lauterbach, and CAN tools (CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy).
- Knowledge of gcc compiler, gdb debugger, and Eclipse.
- Previous experience as a Controls, Software, or Calibration Engineer.
