Firmware Controls Engineer

Location: Hybrid work setting based in Irving, Texas, with up to 25% domestic travel; applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

What you will do

• Develop firmware and control algorithms for machine-control applications in collaboration with electrical and mechanical engineers.
• Lead firmware engineering teams through all project phases and support execution across multiple applications and programs.
• Support bids and proposals by estimating labor hours and material costs for customer projects.
• Collaborate with test engineers to verify firmware in live mail-processing environments.
• Communicate technical issues to stakeholders and contribute to a collaborative, multi-site engineering team.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of firmware development experience, including creating algorithms, troubleshooting issues, and solving control-system problems.
• Experience leading a team of firmware engineers through a project.
• Experience estimating time and materials for firmware projects.
• Experience working with electrical hardware engineers to develop and implement control applications.
• Experience with C/C++.
• Experience with Altera NIOS II software build tools for Eclipse.
• Experience with Microchip dsPIC processors and MPLAB X IDE build tools.
• Familiarity with source-control tools such as DevOps and GitHub.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
