Senior Brake Control Software Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Brake Control Software Engineer (Embedded Controls): Develop and implement control algorithms for ABS, TCS, and ESC using model-based development (MATLAB/Simulink) or C/C++ with an accent on calibration strategies, robust coding, and compliance with safety regulations. Focus on defining tests (unit, HIL, vehicle), resolving production issues, and collaborating cross-functionally to meet physics-based requirements and ensure system reliability.

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan – expected to report to office at least 3 times a week. No immigration sponsorship (H1-B, OPT, etc.). No relocation benefits. Travel required, primarily during winter testing.

What you will do

• Develop control algorithms for brake systems (ABS, TCS, ESC) using MATLAB/Simulink or C/C++.
• Define calibration strategies, promote robust coding, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain production software, manage version control, and support issue resolution.
• Create unit tests, HIL tests, and vehicle tests based on requirements.
• Model, simulate, and analyze data to meet physics-based system requirements.
• Collaborate with system engineers, software teams, calibrators, and Scrum leaders; mentor juniors and build tools.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical), Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years in embedded controls/software development.
• Proficiency in C, Simulink, MATLAB, DOORS, GIT, Jira; control system theory.
• Experience with embedded controls process; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Teamwork in Agile/Scrum; communication; ability to handle ambiguity and multiple projects.
• US work authorization required – no sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ABS control, vehicle dynamics, brake systems.
• Experience with MIL/SIL/HIL testing, INCA/MDA tools, production debugging.
• Advanced driving skills, vehicle testing experience.
