TL;DR

Staff Data Scientist (Marketplace): Driving business strategy through predictive insights and fraud interventions with an accent on commerce, risk, and growth levers. Hybrid schedule requiring two days of in-office collaboration per week in San Francisco or New York City offices. Position based in US.

Base pay: $170,000 - $225,000

What you will do

• Partner strategically with product, risk, finance, engineering, and operations to define and solve high-impact analytical problems using statistical approaches.
• Conduct deep dives to identify growth opportunities in commerce and risk levers, presenting actionable insights.
• Define success metrics, run advanced experiments and causal inference to optimize features and user experiences.
• Design and scale fraud interventions with heuristics and ML models to mitigate chargebacks, declines, and refunds.
• Foster data-driven culture by advocating best practices in analysis and interpretation.

Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in quantitative field (Statistics, CS, Engineering, etc.)
• Minimum 7 years in data science; marketplace/fintech experience a plus
• Strong experience in advanced experimentation, statistical modeling, and fraud/risk models
• Expert in SQL, experienced in Python, data pipelines (dbt), git; ML Ops bonus
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, business acumen, and communication skills
• Self-starter able to drive projects end-to-end with business impact
