What you will do

  • Maintain and continuously improve a fleet of airborne data collection systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, sensor, and networking domains.
  • Support flight tests and data collection locally and in the field, ensuring safe operation of safety-critical systems.
  • Design, assemble, and integrate custom platforms combining sensors like LiDAR, radar, GNSS, and cameras with onboard compute.
  • Develop assembly guides, troubleshooting workflows, and maintain part inventories.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware integration or prototyping within robotics, aerospace, or automotive industries.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for precision assembly and fabrication.
  • Solid electronics fundamentals, including harnessing, crimping, soldering, and multimeter use.
  • Comfort working with Linux systems, firmware flashing, and basic networking.
  • Proven ability to debug complex electromechanical systems methodically.
  • Must be based in or able to work onsite in South San Francisco, CA.

Nice to have

  • Experience with drones or airborne systems.
  • Familiarity with perception sensors such as cameras, LiDAR, and radar.
  • CAD experience with NX, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360.
  • FAA Part 107 certification or willingness to obtain it.
