What you will do

• Manage fire protection maintenance and inspection schedules.
• Review design drawings for sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and special suppression systems like foam.
• Plan and direct engineering activities with high contractor engagement.
• Act as owner’s representative for fire protection systems on site.
• Conduct regular site walks to verify fire safety and code compliance.
• Support emergent needs including witnessing testing, commissioning, and code support.
• Prepare and present technical reports; assess and approve contractor costs and bids.

Requirements

• P.Eng registrant in British Columbia and/or Alberta.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience with fire sprinkler systems.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Fire Protection System Design, emphasizing automatic sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and foam systems.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, 10, 16, 25, 20.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and negotiating skills.
• Ability to travel 15-20% required; may need to be on call 24/7 occasionally.

Nice to have

• NICET Water-Based Systems Layout Certification.
• Proficiency in SprinkCALC, HydraCALC or similar.
• REVIT design experience.
• Knowledge of FM Global Requirements for fire protection.
• Significant industry experience in fire protection and code consulting.
