TL;DR
Forward Deployed Engineer (Health Data API): Architecting integrations and writing production code in customer environments to optimize use of 's health data platform with an accent on webhook configurations, data normalization, and API scalability. Focus on designing data pipelines for AI labs, insurers, clinical research, and fitness apps, solving real-time streaming, device quirks, and compliance challenges.
Office: London or San Francisco | Remote
Company
is the health operating system connecting wearables, sensors, labs, and health apps into a unified platform for developers and AIs, processing 15+ billion health data events per year. Founded in 2021, backed by Y Combinator and top investors, with offices in London, San Francisco, and South Korea.
What you will do
- Design integration architectures mapping endpoints, webhooks, and data models to customer product requirements.
- Write production code in customer environments: webhook consumers, data transformations, auth flows, retry logic.
- Debug full-stack issues from device sync failures to data pipeline drops across 3β5 strategic accounts.
- Translate field learnings into platform improvements and build reference SDKs/sample apps.
- Scope technical requirements during sales, estimate API volumes, and define integration timelines.
Requirements
- 3+ years building software with experience designing and consuming REST APIs at scale.
- End-to-end integration ownership: OAuth 2.0, API keys, webhooks, error handling, retry logic, idempotency.
- Strong in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript for prototyping webhook consumers, SDKs, data pipelines.
- Direct technical customer/partner experience translating issues to root causes and fixes.
- Ability to context-switch between multiple customer architectures while communicating clearly to engineers and stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with health/fitness/biomedical data (HRV, sleep staging, wearable noise).
- Familiarity with HIPAA, GDPR, FHIR, HL7 standards.
- Background in developer tools, platform engineering, API products, data pipelines at scale.
- Work in wearables, digital health, or health AI; contributions to docs/SDKs/open-source.
- Athlete mindset: training, competing, or obsessing over personal health data.
Culture & Benefits
- Team of engineers, researchers, builders, designers who get things done, think from first principles, learn ferociously.
- Default to yes, ship fast, hack, build, no bureaucracy.
- Active in health future-shaping events at Stanford, MIT, Imperial College.
