Assistant Manager - Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) (Compliance): Managing Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) risk across Business & Commercial Banking and Corporate & Institutional Banking with an accent on risk assessment, mitigation, and regulatory adherence. Focus on analyzing customer connections to sanctioned entities and formulating recommendations for senior management approval.

Location: Hybrid (Edinburgh) - Must spend at least two days per week (40%) in the office

What you will do

  • Conduct risk assessments on new and existing PEP relationships within Commercial and Corporate Banking divisions.
  • Identify, assess, mitigate, and escalate risks in alignment with policy and regulatory expectations.
  • Analyze customers with potential connections to sanctioned countries or entities.
  • Provide detailed recommendations to senior management for risk approval.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise on industry developments and financial crime regulations.
  • Collaborate with Coverage and Economic Crime Prevention teams to ensure best-in-class risk management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Economic Crime Prevention, Financial Crime, or Compliance roles.
  • Experience coordinating and prioritizing workloads to meet strict deadlines and service expectations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to work hybridly from the Edinburgh office.

Nice to have

  • Direct experience conducting reviews involving Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).
  • Proven coaching skills and a track record of supporting personal development.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of compliance programs.
  • Ability to identify business practice shortcomings and implement improvements.
