TL;DR

Head of Communications (Pharmaceuticals): Developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy to build visibility and protect the reputation of a biopharmaceutical group in the US market with an accent on internal and external stakeholder engagement. Focus on translating complex scientific/business information into compelling narratives and managing high-impact media relations.

Location: Hybrid role based in Cary, NC; must be based in or be able to relocate to Cary, NC

What you will do

  • Shape and execute a US communications strategy to enhance brand visibility and corporate reputation across all business units.
  • Lead high-impact strategies for AIR (respiratory) and CARE (specialty) business units, including product launch communications and disease awareness campaigns.
  • Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key journalists and oversee the US media relations strategy.
  • Design and manage the US social media engagement strategy to ensure alignment with corporate identity and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and activate internal communication strategies to drive employee engagement via intranet, town halls, and executive communications.
  • Mentor and lead a high-performing team of professionals and manage the departmental resources and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of progressive experience in public relations or communications, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Expert grasp of pharmaceutical business models and the application of communication practices to drive business success.
  • Proven ability to advise senior leadership on complex business issues and reputational challenges.
  • Track record of executing integrated, multi-stakeholder targeted communication strategies with clearly defined metrics.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to Cary, NC.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%, primarily domestically but potentially internationally.
