TL;DR

Associate Cloud Database Engineer (SQL Server): Ensuring SQL Server database performance and availability in a 24x7 environment with an accent on installation, configuration, and database tuning. Focus on implementing backup and recovery policies, maintaining database security, and managing SQL Server replication.

Location: Hybrid (Manila, Philippines) — 2 days in office and 3 days remote per week.

What you will do

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and manage multiple SQL Server databases.
  • Perform database and application tuning to ensure optimal performance.
  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures.
  • Implement database security and manage SQL Server replication.
  • Perform code reviews and provide consultation to development teams.
  • Provide 24x7 support on an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years experience maintaining SQL Server mission-critical databases.
  • 2+ years experience with TSQL programming.
  • 1+ years experience implementing and maintaining database replication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Experience with newer data/streaming platforms: Kafka, MSK, Snowflake, Aurora DB.
  • Knowledge of HP Blade and EVA SAN optimization.
  • Veritas Net Backup experience.
  • MCSE, MCDBA, or OCP certifications.
  • Proficiency in .NET technologies, PowerShell, or C#.
