TL;DR

Applied Data Scientist (Fintech): Developing and maintaining credit risk and repayment models for on-demand pay platform with an accent on risk assessment, predictive feature engineering, and production ML deployment. Focus on designing transaction-based features, optimizing models in AWS/Snowflake, investigating performance issues, and collaborating on credit strategy.

Location: Hybrid in New York City, office at least 3 days/week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays)

Salary: $165K – $172K

What you will do

• Develop and maintain credit risk and repayment models powering underwriting decisions.
• Design predictive features from transaction data for income, spending, and repayment prediction.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize ML models in production using AWS and Snowflake.
• Prototype new modeling approaches and present to stakeholders.
• Analyze credit performance, detect model drift, and identify root causes.
• Collaborate with product, risk, and engineering to refine strategies and improve products.

Requirements

• 5+ years in data science and machine learning
• End-to-end experience: research, development, deployment, monitoring of models
• Built and productionized credit or risk models
• Strong Python, ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost), SQL for large datasets
• Strong communication for cross-functional collaboration
• Fast-paced production environment experience

Nice to have

• Fintech or credit risk modeling experience
• Cloud ML environments (AWS, Azure, Snowflake)
• Model explainability and financial compliance
• Time-series analysis, forecasting, temporal features
