Data Governance Manager

What you will do

• Partner with InfoSec to define security principles, implement access controls, encryption, masking, and least-privilege access across Microsoft Fabric data sources.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, privacy-by-design, data retention policies, and operationalise Microsoft Purview for classification and policy enforcement.
• Establish data quality frameworks with rules, validation, anomaly detection, alerting, and monitoring for analytics and AI workloads.
• Implement audit controls, ongoing monitoring of user activity, and maintain governance documentation for compliance.
• Collaborate with security, data protection, engineering, and business stakeholders to embed governance and enable self-service analytics and AI.

Requirements

• 10+ years in data governance, security, protection/privacy, quality, or enterprise data management, with 2+ years in people management.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
• Leadership in data security, access governance, encryption, masking, sensitivity labels across distributed platforms.
• Experience designing data quality frameworks, rules, checks, alerts, anomaly detection.
• Hands-on with Microsoft Fabric or similar (Databricks, Snowflake), Microsoft Purview, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Strong collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of GDPR, EU AI Act, SOC2, NIST frameworks.
• Understanding of AI governance, Copilot, agentic automation risks.
• Experience with AI practices, data engineering, or data management.
