Assistant Production Accountant

TL;DR

Assistant Production Accountant (Scripted Production): Support the Production Accountant in managing financial control of scripted productions or slates of productions with an accent on transaction recording, cost reporting, and compliance. Focus on handling purchasing processes, bank reconciliations, and ensuring accurate financial documentation.

Location: Cardiff - Roath Lock (onsite)

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience

What you will do

• Record transactions in production books and general ledger, prepare weekly cost reports.
• Raise purchase orders, process expense claims, handle payments for freelance crews and supporting artists.
• Manage production bank accounts, petty cash, Barclaycards, and reconciliations.
• Monitor costs for authorization, maintain audit trails and production asset register.
• Ensure compliance with BBC procurement guidelines and financial controls.
• Deputise for Production Accountant and support team collaboration.

Requirements

• Right to work in the UK (eligibility to work checks required).
• Vocational training or experience in financial or accountancy field.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles, practice, controls and compliance.
• Ability to communicate finance information clearly to finance and non-finance audiences.
• Numerate with analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Nice to have

• Experience in a production environment within a media organisation.
• Working towards recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
