Senior Mechanical Engineer (NEXTEST)

TL;DR

Senior Mechanical Engineer (NEXTEST): Develop detailed design solutions for test equipment from product requirements with an accent on stress/strain analysis, FEA, power distribution, and cooling methods. Focus on designing sheetmetal, machined, plastic injection molded parts, cable harnesses, and mechanisms, performing DFM, prototyping, verification testing, and preparing drawings and BOMs.

Location: On-site in San Jose, CA, US. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Salary: $133,800 - $214,200

What you will do

• Develop specifications, requirements, and validation plans for new product development of test equipment.
• Perform detailed design of mechanical parts to support design requirements.
• Define and conduct verification testing to ensure quality of mechanical design.
• Prepare presentations on design proposals to design and manufacturing engineers.
• Perform DFM with vendors and prepare final drawings and BOMs for fabrication.
• Build initial prototypes for validation and design verification.

Requirements

• Minimum B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 8 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Stress/strain analysis and FEA skills.
• Familiar with system level and board level power distribution and cooling methods.
• Proficient with Solidworks (or similar) and PDM tools.
• Sheetmetal, machined, plastic injection molded part design experience.
• Cable harness design experience.
• General mechanism design experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to prepare presentations and work with remote teams using Teams, Webex, Zoom.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully within a team and across disciplines.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with compliance standards ie SEMI, IEC/EN/UL 61010.
• Experience with Semiconductor package handlers and wafer probers.
