Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace/Defense): Own end-to-end mechanical design and integration of ruggedized electronics, effectors, and mission hardware into ground- and sea-mobile platforms with an accent on structures, mechanisms, and environmental compliance. Focus on architecting assemblies under shock, vibration, thermal constraints, performing structural/thermal analyses, and leading cross-disciplinary system integrations.

What you will do

• Provide hands-on mechanical authority for integrating electronics, enclosures, effectors, launchers, mechanisms into ground- and sea-mobile platforms
• Architect and design structures, frames, mounts, enclosures, mechanisms under shock, vibration, thermal, environmental constraints
• Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, ICDs for multi-disciplinary integration
• Perform structural/thermal analyses and requirements allocation per military standards
• Lead system integration, qualification, acceptance, including installation and fit-checks
• Resolve cross-disciplinary issues with mechanical, electrical, RF, power, systems teams
• Interface with customers, platform providers, suppliers, manufacturing partners

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
• 11+ years in platform-level mechanical design/integration for aerospace/defense
• Proven integration of subsystems/mission systems into vehicles/mobile platforms
• Strong CAD proficiency (SolidWorks or equivalent) for large assemblies/top-down design
• Expertise in interfaces, tolerancing, alignment, ICDs
• Familiarity with structural analysis (hand calcs, FEA), ruggedized hardware, MIL-STD-810
• Ability to lead technical decisions in multi-project environments
• Strong communication skills

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience as mechanical technical authority
• Mechanisms/actuation systems (linkages, bearings, motors, hydraulics, gimbals)
• FEA/multiphysics simulation (NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS)
• Manufacturing/assembly processes, prototyping, additive manufacturing, CNC
• Military connectors (38999, ARINC, micro-D)
• Field installation/retrofit/sustainment
